The bunkering process has long been frought with inefficiencies and discrepancies often leading to claims of fraud. To bring more transparency to the sector, Angsana Technology, A singapore based start-up, has developed Bunker Flow, a digital platform designed to digitize the bunkering process. This platform aims to replace manual, paper-based methods with digital solutions that are more efficient, transparent and secure. This step is in line with the vision of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to make Singapore a pioneer in the digitalization of global bunkering. 

Bunker Flow integrates the entire bunkering process, from submitting fuel requests to issuing an Electronic Bunker Delivery Note (e-BDN). These digital documents replace manual notes, enabling more efficient workflows and reducing the risk of errors. This platform uses TradeTrust Blockchain technology to guarantee the security, authenticity and verification of electronic documents. The underpinning Blockchain technology is what allows data to be stored transparently and immutably, increasing trust between suppliers and buyers. 

In addition, Bunker Flow makes it easier to send reports to the MPA with an automatic reporting feature, so that bunker suppliers can comply with regulations more easily. With real-time data analytics technology, this platform is able to detect suspicious activity early and minimize operational risks. Other features such as biometric authentication are also implemented to increase security in data and system access. 

Digitalization of workflows through Bunker Flow helps reduce the need for manual interactions and physical documents, thereby significantly increasing operational efficiency. With an integrated system, all transactions and data are recorded transparently, allowing stakeholders to monitor the bunkering process in real-time. 

This effort also supports sustainability by minimizing paper use and increasing fuel efficiency. Bunker Flow is designed in accordance with SS648 standards and MPA requirements, ensuring compatibility with applicable systems and regulations. 

Angsana Technology has collaborated with several leading bunker suppliers in Singapore, such as Victory Pte Ltd and Eng Hua Company, to trial this platform. One successful trial was the implementation of e-BDN with Ocean Network Express (ONE), which demonstrated Bunker Flow’s ability to increase operational efficiency and reliability.

Angsana Technology is committed to expanding the adoption of Bunker Flow through further collaboration with the MPA. The platform is looking to become the industry standard in the digitalization of bunkering, strengthening Singapore’s position as an innovative global maritime hub.
