His partner, CTO Vinit Bansal, brings nearly ten years of experience from National Instruments in prototyping space and defense systems. Together, they are translating military-grade radar expertise into a commercial platform named MATSYA, an analytics engine that fuses satellite data to detect everything from oil spills to suspicious ship-to-ship transfers.

Investors are betting heavily on this “all-weather” vision. As of 2025, PierSight has secured $8 million in total funding across its seed and seed-extension rounds. The capital flight was led by Alpha Wave Ventures and Elevation Capital, with a diverse cap table that includes Techstars, Seabird Ventures (the venture arm of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance), and high-profile angels like Swiggy co-founder Nandan Reddy and Gumroad’s Sahil Lavingia. This global backing reflects a growing appetite for “dual-use” technologies that serve both environmental protection and hard-nosed maritime logistics.
